Texas Governor Rick Perry endorsed the re-election of United States Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Saturday night, according to the Washington Times.

During a dinner in Kentucky at Murry State University, Perry said, "I love the number six. Sam Houston was 6 foot 6 inches tall. McConnell is running against Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes and fellow Republican Matt Bevin.

McConnell addressed the dinner guests after Perry spoke. He made a point to slam Lundergan, whom he referred to as "face of the status quo." He refrained from referencing Bevin.

Tea Party groups in Kentucky have galvanized around Bevin, a businessman in the state.
